Town of Abingdon Administrative Offices are closed today, Monday, October 13, 2025, in observance of Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day. We will resume regular business hours tomorrow, Tuesday, October 14.
Town of Abingdon Public Works crews are currently conducting spot repairs, maintenance, and clean up along the Valley Street - Walden Road corridor. On Monday, October 13, and Tuesday, October 14, 2025, W-L Construction will be conducting a full paving operation on Valley Street and Walden Road, from Deadmore Street to Gray Drive.
The road will be open to local traffic; please use caution in the area and follow any posted signage or flaggers. We do ask that all other traffic use alternate routes to minimize congestion and delays. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Park Street Drainage and Pedestrian Improvement Project
The Park Street Drainage and Pedestrian Improvement Project is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 6, 2025. This project will affect the section of Pecan Street from the railroad to the Park Street intersection and then proceed along Park Street to the intersection with Court Street. Traffic control will be established to allow controlled passage through the work zone. The project timeline is 240 calendar days to final completion. This project will improve storm water drainage systems, install new curb and gutters, new brick sidewalks, and lighting along this corridor.
We understand the impact this will have on travel along this section of town but our contractor, Jones Road and Bridge, is mindful of the citizens and the needs of the community and will work to make this work go quickly and reduce impacts. This project will be a wonderful addition to our community, and we are glad to see this project kickoff.
