ATMOS Gas will be making a small open cut along Tanner Street (from Plumb Alley to Valley Street) to install a new gas line. This work will take place Wednesday, December 17, and Thursday, December 18, 2025. During this time Tanner Street will be closed to traffic while the work is being done.

The Town of Abingdon is seeking two individuals to serve on the Tourism Advisory Committee: one representative from a hotel/ motel establishment and a representative who owns or operates a retail or downtown business. At the Monday, December 1, 2025, Town Council meeting, Abingdon Town Council issued a proclamation honoring First Sergeant Michael Willis of the Virginia State Police.

First Sergeant Willis was recognized and honored for his outstanding service, leadership, and commitment to the Town of Abingdon and the surrounding communities, as well as his mentorship, and support to the Abingdon Police Department. First Sergeant Willis will retire in January, after 28 years of service.
